ACT Center for Tobacco Treatment, Education and Research
The UMMC ACT Center consists of skilled providers who have years of experience fighting tobacco use. The specialists design treatments plans to the needs of patients which increases their likelihood to quit smoking and stay tobacco-free. Counseling services and nicotine replacement therapy are free for Mississippi residents due to funding by the Mississippi Legislature and the Mississippi State Department of Health. Each month, hundreds of patients visit the ACT Center located at the Jackson Medical Mall, and an estimated 40 to 45 percent remain tobacco-free 6 to 12 months later.
